Picassholes
The Internet is littered with blogs claiming that Picasa “wipes its ass” with iPhoto. Of course, to put these claims into perspective you have to remember first that they’re being made by Windows users, and second that they’re comparing Picasa, a Windows-only app, to iPhoto, a Mac-only app that they’ve been jealous of for about half a decade but have never actually used in any sort of meaningful way. In other words, these Windows users are finally getting a taste of how fun photo editing can be when you’ve got an iApp to do it with, and now they’re lashing out because they can’t stand the fact that they’re actually loving the Mac Way. Pathetic.
Look, iPhoto 6 is great. It’s fast, slick and simple, and it makes working with photos fun. And now PC users have Picasa, a goddamn iPhoto clone right down to the window layout, button placement, feature set and general look and feel, and they’re trying to tell you that Picasa, by being exactly like iPhoto, somehow simultaneously “wipes its ass” with it. Whatever. Fuck you and your mothers.
There’s really no debate here. Most of the puzzles concerning how to make photo editing simple and user-friendly were solved by Apple with iPhoto years ago. Picasa merely brings this stuff to a lot of jealous PC users who’ve been suffering with whatever ghastly Microsoft product came free with their PCs.
Boo fucking hoo and hooray for you.
